Introduction

The NXS system offers one of the most flexible and comprehensive wireless shifting solutions on the market. We understand that the setup and operation can initially seem complex, but we’re here to guide you through every step. You’ll find all the support and information you need right here.

Safety Precautions

Lithium Battery Safety Precautions:
  1. Proper Charging:
    • Use the manufacturer-recommended charger.
    • Avoid overcharging or discharging the battery completely, as it can cause damage or reduce the lifespan.
    • Charge in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials.
  2. Storage:

    • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
    • Keep the battery at a partial charge (around 50%) if storing for an extended period.
    • Avoid storing batteries in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  3. Handling:

    • Avoid dropping or subjecting the battery to physical shocks.
    • Do not puncture or disassemble the battery.
    • Keep the battery away from metal objects that could short-circuit the terminals.
  4. Usage:

    • Only use the battery in the device it is designed for.
    • Monitor the battery during use for signs of overheating or swelling.
    • Stop using the battery if it becomes hot, emits an odor, or shows any signs of damage.
  5. Disposal:

    • Do not dispose of lithium batteries in regular trash.
    • Follow local regulations for recycling or disposal of lithium batteries at designated facilities.
  6. Emergency Situations:

    • If the battery catches fire, use a Class D fire extinguisher or sand to put it out. Water is not effective on lithium fires.
    • In case of leakage, avoid contact with skin or eyes. Use protective gloves and neutralize any acid spills.
  7. Environmental Factors:

    • Avoid exposing the battery to high humidity or submerging it in water.
    • Keep the battery away from corrosive materials.
  8. Inspection:

    • Regularly inspect the battery for signs of damage, such as swelling, corrosion, or leakage.
    • Do not use a battery that has been damaged or shows abnormal behavior.

Warranty

Warranty Policy

We Warranty our products to be free from manufacturing defects for a period of 1 year

Warranty Limitations
  • Use of pressure washers or caustic chemicals to clean the components.
  • Excessive water exposure, such as submerging in streams and rivers.
  • Damage to the USB charging port
  • Using any components without the rubber seals installed will void the warranty
  • Any modification or disassembly of the components.
  • Damage from a crash or mistreatment
  • Reselling of the product. The warranty only covers the original purchaser
  • Product purchased from an Ebay or Amazon seller are not warranted
  • Dissatisfaction due to buyer’s remorse
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Batteries will be warranteed for defects only. Does not cover normal loss of capacity over time.

Firmware Updates

Updates

All of our wireless devices are upgradable by wireless. It is called OTA-DFU. (Over The Air – Device Firmware Update)

Security

For security purposes, the motor units all require a special process, including inputting the PIN code to perform the upgrade. Remote controls can be updated directly without a PIN or special code. This is because if the remote control is connected to the motor unit, it is not available or discoverable, thus not a security risk.

Update APP

We have an APP that is specifically designed to update our devices.

Manual Update

Under some rare circumstances, it may not be possible to use the update APP, and so a manual process is required. We have a video that explains this process in detail.

One-Touch Pairing

Quantum

Quantum Shifter

Quantum is a wireless shifting servo. It is designed primarily to fit rear derailleurs on most types of bicycles. It can be attached directly to the cable port on the derailleur, or frame mounted and connected with a short length of Bowden cable

      • Battery – A removable battery that is charged with our external Quantum battery charger
      • Battery Release – Press the round button to release the latch. It is usually necessary to press down firmly on the battery while pressing the battery release button
      • Function/LED Button – A clear plastic function button and combined LED.
      • Recovery Port – In the rare case that the device becomes jammed, the screw can be manually turned. Remove the rubber port with a small flat blade screwdriver or metal pick. Once removed, you can use a small flat blade screw driver to turn the screw. Never force the screw. It should only take moderate force to turn. When reinstalling the plug, its helpful to use a little silicone grease or alcohol to help lubricate it.

Derailleur Adapters

There are various adapters available for the Quantum. The standard kit includes a straight adapter made from CNC aluminum. 4 adapters are included that will fit most common derailleurs.

Cable Change

  1. Home the Quantum to put the cable puller in the correct position.
  2. If the end of the cable is frayed, you must cut it clean so it can be pulled out of the Quantum.
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, remove the rubber cable plug.
  5. Using a pick or tweezer, remove the old cable.
  6. Install new cable. When inserting, use a twisting motion to help feed it into the cable port.
  7. Replace the rubber plug
  8. Reinstall battery

Spring Pins

There are 2 spring pins for the battery connection. Under no circumstances should you ever attempt to power the device directly with these pins. Connecting an external power source will almost certainly damage the Quantum’s delicate circuit.

Always use great care around the pins when the battery is removed. They are easily damaged. If a pin is stuck in a compressed state, there is no good way to repair it, and the Quantum will need to be replaced. Generally this is not covered by warranty, as it is damage, not a manufacturing defect.

It is strongly advised to keep these pins well lubricated with silicone or other dielectric grease. It is often known as “tune up” grease and is also used on engine spark plugs. This will help to keep the connection waterproof and prevent corrosion. Heavy corrosion will eventually lead to the failure of the pin, or the battery connection pad.

Dropperator

Dropperator

The Dropperator will convert a cable actuated dropper post to wireless actuation. We currently offer models for OneUp and BikeYoke, with more to come.

Mounting

BikeYoke

Consult the BikeYoke user manual and videos on how to disassemble the dropper

  1. Remove the snap ring and bottom end cap
  2. Replace the end cap with the cap included in our kit
  3. Thread the actuator onto the adapter plate
  4. Do not use plyers or other tool on the motor unit, hand tight only.
OneUp

Consult the OneUp documentation and videos on how to disassemble.

  1. Remove the end cap
  2. Install the Dropperator motor to the bottom of the OneUp dropper
  3. Do not use plyers or other tool on the motor unit, hand tight only.

Battery Charging

Quantum Charger

Quantum has a removable battery and a USB-C powered charging block

Usage

  1. The battery is held in place in the charging block with the included black elastic band.
  2. Connect the charger to a USB-C cable. Power requirement is minimum 0.5 amps
  3. About 2 hours charging time if fully depleted
  4. When charging, the LED should be steady red
  5. When fully charged, the LED will change to green
  6. Note: It is very common for defective charging cables and adapters to cause the LED to never change to green. If the battery is fully charged, there is no need to wait for the light to change green.
  7. Battery level can be checked on the NXS APP.

Charging LED

            • Steady Red means still charging
            • Steady Green means fully charged.
            • Note: It is common for a defective charging cable to prevent the charging light from turning red to green. If the device is fully charged, then you do not need to wait for the green light. This can be checked via the app.

Function LED

            • Single fast green – Command has been received successfully
            • Single fast red – Command received but the usage limit counter has been exceeded
            • Double long red – Command received, but the device requires homing.

Troubleshooting

Motor Units

Homing

The motor units have a home or zero position. When you home the device, it will perform the homing process and zero. If successful, the green light will flash 3 times. If it fails, the red light flashes 3 times.

This system is generally very reliable. However under some situations its possible for the motor unit to lose its zero reference, and not show an error via the red light. In this case, you should re-home the device. If it suddenly stops shifting accurately, the best thing is just to home the motor unit to verify that first.
